Train Stuff
Random Pics along the Rails
Who doesn't like trains? Who didn't once dream of "riding the rails" to parts unknown, seeing the country? Of course we grew up and realized life on the rails would be no life at all. But a bit of the romance tends to survive, and it bubbles up in us when we hear a nighttime freight train rumble by.
Trains have become one of my favorite things to photograph. It seems that with the wear and tear of the rails every freight car develops its own look and personality.
This is an eclectic collection of rail photos, from trains going by, to individual engines, to close-ups of details. The locomotive photos were taken in Galveston where Burlington Northern has a storage yard with near 150 locomotives.
The other photos were grabbed at various small yards or waysides near home or along the way when traveling. I have plenty of pictures, so this is just the first group.
Enjoy!
