When we think of doves we think of sleek, gray birds with fine, smooth feathers. Calming to look at. But these three are not worried about what they look like, nor whether they are smooth and sleek. The air is chilly, and they have puffed out their feathers to help them stay warm. Chubby looking with rough feathers, they are perched on a branch along the shoreline of a lake in Texas. They are surprised it is this cold — they came to Texas to be warm in the winter. So they sit patiently on their branch, hoping that as the sun gets higher in the sky the air will warm for them.
